Automobiles in German City Discovered Covered with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement State

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Authorities reported they were alerted by a resident who noticed a car in Hanau covered with red-colored substance

Approximately 50 vehicles have been covered with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.

Police say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.

The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then located multiple other smeared automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement report early analysis show the substance was likely blood from a person.

"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; investigators are presently not informed of any physical harm in association with the occurrence," they added.

Municipal representatives stated they were working "to unravel the case" and have asked to the residents for tips.

A senior representative commented the attack rendered him stunned and needed to be addressed promptly.

"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on a platform, referring to the death of nine victims by a gunman focusing on residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
